Public
Speaking & Seminar Training:
Seminars
are not rocket science - but, and this is a big
but, there are a number of important details you
have to get right or else you risk chaos and disaster.
I've
been doing seminars for so long it's like second
nature - and I'm going to give you some tips to
avoid a lot of pain and agony.
First,
be sure to make a checklist of everything you'll
need to have at your seminar. If you want a copy
of the checklist I use, just contact me.
Your
checklist should include a sign-in sheet, the
list of people who've signed up for your seminar,
and all the equipment and supplies you'll need.
Equipment
means any stuff like your laptop, LCD projector,
overhead projector and stuff like that.
Supplies
means stuff like pens, writing pads and also your
brochures, business cards, your presentation outline,
and any products you have for sale.
Assemble
all your seminar equipment and supplies the day
before your seminar, and put it all into suitcases
you can easily wheel to your car and your venue.
Once
you arrive at your venue, get everything set up
and check out the room carefully.
Get
your registration and product table set up. Arrange
the chairs the way you want the room set up. Check
the lighting and the air conditioning.
Despite
your best preparations, things will go wrong.
Be mentally and emotionally ready for that - don't
freak out or have a fit. Things will go wrong,
just handle it with grace and keep going with
your presentation!
