Public Speaking Venue: Where Should You Hold Your Seminar?

When it comes to holding a seminar, lucky for your there are a ton of choices.

Here's the best places for you to hold your seminar, and the main benefits and drawbacks to each:

Your Office:

Main Benefit: it's cheap! You already pay the rent there, so it costs you nothing.

Main Drawback:people may have an aversion to attending a seminar in your office because they're afraid you'll nail the door shut and force them to sit through a hard-sell sales pitch.

Your Home:

Main Benefit: yes, it's cheap, but also it's "personal" which means that people feel a more personal connection since you're inviting them into your own home.

Main Drawback: people know where you live! If you're inviting strangers you've never met into your home, you run the risk that someone may be mentally unstable and be a crazy stalker or worse!

Restaurant:

Main Benefit: you can usually get the private banquet room for free because you're paying for the meal costs of your seminar attendees.

Main Drawback: it can be noisy and you have little control over the room set up since people will be dining.

Country Club:

Main Benefit: if they're not already a member of the club, they'll want to check it out! - it becomes a social event for your attendees and they've been wanting to see what the club is like anyway, and now's their chance.

Main Drawback: cost and availability.

Hotel Meeting Room:

Main Benefit: the fact that it's a "neutral" location and the fact that the hotel will be used to setting up for seminars.

Main Drawback: cost, but if you look for "business-type" hotels, you can usually get very good rooms for very little money!
